Bengaluru Rape Case: In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old labourer from Bihar was raped by two men in Bengaluru, Karnataka on Wednesday. The police on Thursday said the crime took place near KR Puram railway station in the early hours of Wednesday.

One accused, identified as Ashif, was arrested, while the other one is on the run. Later, the second accused - Syed Mushar - was also arrested by the police. The victim used to work in Kerala's Kattappan town and she was returning home with her cousin after quitting the job she was unhappy with the job when she and her cousin were attacked.

The police said she took a ticket to Mangaluru but used the same ticket to reach Bengaluru. The victim, accompanied by her cousin, arrived at KR Puram railway station around 1:13 AM, police said.

"On April 2 at 1.30 pm, a woman and her brother were travelling to a hotel for lunch, on the outskirts of Mahadevpur police station limits of outer ring road, Bengaluru, when two auto rickshaw drivers (accused identified as Ashif and Syed Mushar in the FIR by Police) attacked the man and allegedly raped the woman. Both accused have been arrested by the police. A case has been registered at Mahadevpur police station, and further investigation is underway," said Shivakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield Division, Bengaluru City.

She was walking towards Mahadevapura to get food when two unidentified men attacked them. They allegedly attacked the victim's cousin and overpowered him. Other accused dragged the victim to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Locals catch one accused

According to the police, some passersby came forward to help the victim after hearing her cries. They rushed to the spot, forcing the attackers to flee. The public managed to catch one of the suspects, Ashif, and handed him over to the police.
