Bengaluru Namma Metro Updates: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Wednesday announced that the much-hyped Yellow Line between RV Road and Bommasandra is set to begin operation around May 15. It stated that a new batch of driverless trains has been dispatched from Kolkata and is expected to reach Bengaluru soon. The Yellow Line is expected to provide convenience to lakhs of residents by reducing the traffic congestion and significantly cutting the travel time.

The much-awaited Yellow Line will provide a great relief to the lakhs of IT employees residing in the Electronic City, one of Bengaluru's industrial and IT hubs. Earlier last month, the BMRCL officials stated that the metro line will save employees time by reducing the traffic congestion. Electronics City faces major traffic congestion, especially in areas like Hosur Road and the elevated expressway, as several IT giants, including Infosys, Wipro, and HCL, are located in this area.

Namma Metro Yellow Line To Reduce Traffic Congestion

While the commuters usually spend hours in the traffic congestion before and after office timings, the Yellow Line metro will provide them relief as the Electronic City is just 6 kilometers apart from Bommasandra. Apart from reducing the traffic congestion, the Yellow Line is also likely to reduce air pollution, given more commuters, especially IT employees, are expected to use the metro services.

“With the commissioning of these new trains, BMRCL aims to speed up the rollout of services on the Yellow Line, which will connect R.V. Road to Bommasandra. Once operational, the corridor will help ease traffic congestion and offer seamless travel options to daily commuters, especially those traveling between key industrial and residential hubs,” a BMRCL official was quoted as saying by The Hindu.

While six Chinese-manufactured coaches arrived in Bengaluru on February 14 earlier this year, the authority had clarified that the operation will commence once it has at least six more such trains to operate.
