Bengaluru News: A 37-year-old real estate businessman, Loknath Singh, was reportedly killed by his wife and mother-in-law due to his alleged extramarital affairs and questionable business practices. The incident occurred last week, with police making the arrests on Monday.
According to an NDTV report, officials discovered Singh's body in an abandoned vehicle in a remote area of Chikkabanavara on Saturday. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saidul Adavath, the police received a distress call at approximately 5:30 PM regarding the body.
Initial investigations revealed that the accused, Singh’s wife and mother-in-law, had first drugged him by adding sleeping pills to his food. After he became drowsy, they transported him to a secluded location where they fatally slit his throat before fleeing the scene.
The motive behind the murder appears to stem from Singh's alleged infidelity and involvement in illegal business dealings. Police reported that Singh had been in a relationship with his wife for two years before they registered their marriage in Kunigal last December. The marriage faced opposition from both families due to the age difference and neither side was aware of the wedding initially.
Following the marriage, Singh left his wife at her parents' home and it was only two weeks ago that her family learned of the union. Around the same time, Singh's wife and mother discovered his alleged affairs and illegal activities, which escalated tensions within the family.
The couple’s relationship deteriorated, leading to constant arguments and discussions about divorce. Singh reportedly threatened his in-laws, foreshadowing dire consequences if they interfered, which prompted his wife and mother to plot his murder.
Additionally, police revealed that Loknath Singh was under investigation by the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch for a fraud case, adding another layer to the complex situation surrounding his tragic demise.
