Chennai Weather: IMD Issues Rain, Thunderstorms Alert Till September 19; Check Forecast

Chennai Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu, including the capital city Chennai, are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. IMD has issued a yellow alert for several districts on Sunday, and the others remains on no alert. Due to heavy rain in the past few days, residents have been witnessing waterlogging, especially those living in low-lying localities.

As per the local Chennai weather forecast on X (formerly Twitter),it said, "Chennai Weather Update (13th Sep, 10.45pm): Light/drizzle rains are expected in Chennai during morning hours due to stratiform clouds forming over Chennai from main thunderstorm clouds over the Bay of Bengal. By evening/night a fresh thunderstorm is expected to form over inland & give rains."

Chennai Weather Update: Check IMD Rain Forecast (Sept 14 - Sept 19)

- Sept14: light rain is expected. Temperatures will be similar to the previous day, ranging between 36 degrees andd 28 degrees, with 0 percent humidity on the rise.

- Sept 15: The weather will remain the same as Sunday. The temperature will slightly drop with a high of 36 degrees and low of 27 degrees, and humidity will remain in at 0 percent.

- Sept 16: Partly cloudy sky with a chance of moderate rain or thunderstorms.

- Sept 17: There is a possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorms.

- Sept 18: Light to moderate rain is expected with temperatures ranging from 34 degrees to 27 degrees, and humidity is at 0 percent.

- Sept 19: Rain is expected to continue with a temperature range of 34 degrees to 27 degrees, and humidity remains at 0 percent.
