Chennai Weather: Chennai is bracing for extreme weather conditions over the weekend after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for heavy rain on Sunday and Monday, November 16 and 17. The weather body has advised the residents to be alert and vigilant during the warning period. Intense showers are also expected to lash multiple Tamil Nadu districts on November 17 and 18.

Chennai Weather During The Weekend

The IMD has forecast moderate rain for Chennai this weekend. Sunday and Monday have been placed under a yellow alert for showers and thunderstorms. The city is expected to receive heavy rain on Monday. Moderate rain with cloudy conditions are likely on Tuesday. The rain is driven by an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast

November 13: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal area.

November 14: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal area.

November 15: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal area.

November 16: Light to moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorm & lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.

November 17: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts and Puducherry and Karaikal area.

November 18: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram districts and Karaikal area.
