Delhi Mercedes Crash: A man was killed while two others were injured after a speeding Mercedes SUV (G63) crashed into them near Ambience Mall in Delhi's Vasant Kunj on Sunday, police said.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Rohit. The other two men have been identified as  35-year-old Kapil and 23-year-old Lalit. As per a Hindustan Times report, Rohit and the two injured were employed at Paul, a French bakery-café in Ambience Mall. The driver of the car has been detained and identified as Shivam Arora.

The crash happened at around 2:33 am on Sunday. The three workers were on their way back to their rented accomodation after their shifts when the incident happened. On arrival at the accident scene, the police officers found the severely damaged Mercedes G63, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel.

Who Was Rohit?

-The victim of the Delhi Mercedes crash, Rohit hailed from Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.

-Rohit was the "sole breadwinner of the family," said his uncle Balwant, as quoted by HT. Rohit’s family will soon be reaching Delhi.

"His mother is in shock. He was very hardworking and worked as a chef. We didn’t know this would happen. We last spoke to him last week. He had promised to take leave and come visit us. Now, what will I tell his parents?" his uncle told HT.

"We came to the police to see what action is being taken... The second injured (Kapil) is still in the trauma centre," Mahipal Singh, a relative of the deceased Rohit, told ANI.

Delhi Mercedes Crash Driver Not Intoxicated

The arrested driver of the Mercedes car was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Shivam was on his way home from a wedding and was accompanied by his wife and elder brother at the time of the crash.

Cases against Shhivam have been registered under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
