Delhi police has finally arrested a 47-year-old unemployed man from Karnataka's Mysuru for allegedly sending over 1,100 hoax bomb threats across various places in India. The accused individual has been identified as Srinivas Louis and lives with his retired mother.
Even as the main motive of the crime is yet to be ascertained, the heavy number of threats has raised widespread concerns across the country. The hoax bomb threat targeted schools, high courts, and government offices in several prominent cities of the country.
The police caught Louis after conducting a thorough investigation and traced him through a tip off. On Thursday, the accused was found at his rented house in a joint operation by Delhi police accompanied by the local investigators.
According to the investigating team, Louis has sent hoax bomb threats to key government institutions, including the Delhi High Court, the Assembly, and multiple educational and government establishments. The repeated threats had led to tightened security measures, evacuations, and disruption of normal functioning at several institutions. A Delhi High Court has also lodged a formal complaint after receiving threatening mail, prompting the police to take serious action, News 18 reported.
Is The Accused Mentally Unwell?
Upon conducting an inquiry, the investigating team found out that the accused is a native of Bengaluru. He holds a postgraduate degree and is unemployed. The primary findings direct that Louis is likely suffering from mental distress.
The accused was produced before a local court in Mysuru and taken into custody. Police are now working to identify all locations that received the threats and are coordinating with agencies across states. During the initial investigation, the accused allegedly made a confession that he sent over 1,100 threats across different parts of India.
Additionally, the police recovered a laptop and several SIM cards from his possession. Officials said digital evidence is being examined to trace the full extent of the messages.
The police are now finding out whether he executed these acts alone or was being helped by someone.
Threats Sent To Major Parts Of India
Reports suggest schools across the country received around 600 to 700 hoax bomb threats between March 2025 and March 2026. According to an officer, Louis deliberately targeted significant locations such as courts and educational establishments to instill panic among the people.
Over 500 threats were reported in Delhi-NCR itself. The incidents peaked in September 2025, when more than 300 schools in Delhi received threats in a single day. Another spike was recorded in December 2025 with over 40 cases.
Among other places, Bengaluru received 40 threats, while Jaipur reported around 65 threats and Mumbai recorded 6, while in Noida, at least 50 such cases were registered between January and February.
