Delhi Air Pollution: The air quality in Delhi has further deteriorated as AQI reached 353 in the 'very poor category' at 8 AM on Saturday, according to data from CPCB. This marks the second consecutive day of very poor air in the national capital, as on Friday morning, the AQI was recorded at 305.

The air had improved significantly until this mid week as strict restrictions were in place under the Graded Response Action Plan-4 (GRAP-4). On Wednesday, the restrictions were lifted as AQI had dropped to 221.

Earlier on Friday, the 24-hour average AQI for Delhi stood at 332 at 4 pm, according to CPCB. This was a sharp rise from Thursday's average of 234 and Wednesday's 271.

On Friday evening, 38 out of 40 air quality monitoring stations in Delhi were operational, and 20 out of them reported 'very poor' air quality. Eight stations, including Anand Vihar, Bawana, DTU, Jahangirpuri, Narela, Nehru Nagar, Rohini, and Vivek Vihar, registered AQI levels above 400, signaling 'severe' pollution.

According to the CPCB AQI scale, pollution levels fall in the 'very poor' range for AQI 301-400. In contrast, the 'poor' category spans 201-300. 0-50 is 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', and 101-200 'moderate'. Above 400 is a 'severe' pollution level.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned the national capital of cloudy sky and drop in temperature for the next two days.

A yellow alert has been issued for cloudy skies and moderate to dense fog at many places in the capital. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 21 to 23 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to hit 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, contributing to sharper chills.
