A recent firing outside actor Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly has been linked to a controversial remark made by her sister, Khushboo Patani, an army veteran. Virendra Charan, a member of the Goldy Brar gang, later claimed the attack and threatened violence over a social media post made by Khushboo Patani allegedly insulting Hindu deities and spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj.

Disha Patani’s father, Jagdish Patani, defended his elder daughter Khusbboo, citing her freedom of speech and condemned the threat. “I don't think anyone has made any indecent remark. If Acharya ji made a statement on women, then my daughter also made one. Everyone has freedom of speech. But I don't think anyone would make such a big fuss over it,” he said.

“Khushboo (sister of actor Disha Patani) was misrepresented. Her name was dragged into the matter of Premanand Ji Maharaj. We are Sanatanis, we respect the sadhus and saints. If someone is misrepresenting her statement, it is a conspiracy to demean us.,” he added.

What Was Khushboo Patani’s Controversial Remark?

The controversy around Khushboo Patani stems from a social media post where she called out popular katha vachak Aniruddh Acharya for a "misogynistic" remark in an Instagram story. “If he would have been in front of me, I would have taught him a lesson,” she said.

While her remarks specifically targeted Acharya, they were widely seen as a criticism of spiritual leader Premanand Ji Maharaj. However, Khusboo later clarified that her remarks were only against Aniruddh Acharya.

“It deeply pains me to see people misusing and twisting my words, dragging my name and family name into something we have nothing to do with. This kind of targeted misinformation is not unethical but dangerous...To those spreading lies - truth always stands tall,” Khushboo had said.

The controversy was believed to be settled until yesterday, when two unidentified men opened fire at Patani’s family residence in Bareilly.

What Did The Goldy Brar Gang Warn?

Soon after the firing, Virendra Charan claimed responsibility for the attack and accused Khushboo of insulting Premanand Ji Maharaj. In a Facebook post, he warned, “Next time, if she or anyone else shows any disrespect towards our religion, we will not let them leave alive from their house.”

“This message is not only for her but also for all the film artists and people associated with her. If anyone does any such disrespectful act related to our religion and saints in the future, then be ready to face the consequences. We are ready to go to any extent to protect our religion. For us, religion and the whole society are always one, and protecting them is our first duty,” the post read.
