Diwali-Chhath Special Train: In a significant announcement, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has declared that 12,000 special trains will be operated during the upcoming festive season, including Diwali and Chhath Puja.
The decision comes after a meeting with Bihar's NDA leaders, where the minister emphasised the importance of catering to the travel needs of the masses.
Vaishnaw stated that, based on discussions with state leaders and considering the travel requirements of the people, not only will new special trains be introduced, but several other schemes and projects will also be launched.

Chhath-Diwali Special Trains: Check Routes
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that four new Amrit Bharat trains will be introduced. These trains will operate between Delhi-Gaya, Saharsa-Amritsar, Chhapra-Delhi, and Muzaffarpur-Hyderabad, aiming to provide better facilities to general class passengers.
Special Fare For Special Trains During Festive Season
The Railway Minister also introduced an experimental scheme, offering confirmed tickets to passengers travelling between October 13 and October 26. Additionally, a 20% concession on fares will be provided for return journeys between November 17 and December 1.
Here’s What Railway Minister Says
On this occasion, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "Last year, we operated 7,500 special trains during these festivals, and this year, we are increasing our capacity further." He added, "Our target is to run 12,000 special trains to ensure passengers reach their destinations safely and comfortably during Chhath Puja and Diwali."
The Minister informed that Indian Railways has already issued notifications for 10,000 special trains. Out of the total special trains to be operated during Chhath Puja and Diwali, 150 will be completely unreserved and will be run at short notice.
These special trains will operate from October 1 to November 15, ensuring a smooth travel experience for passengers during the festive season.
