DND-KMP Expressway: Delhi-NCR commuters are set to get major traffic relief as the final nine-kilometre stretch between DND Maharani Bagh and Jaitpur Pushta Road on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to open soon. Once operational, the corridor will significantly reduce travel time for people travelling between Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Sohna.

According to a report by jagran.com, the 24-kilometre stretch from Jaitpur Pushta Road to Faridabad Sector-65 and the 26-kilometre stretch from Sector-65 to Sohna are already open for traffic. The DND-KMP Expressway will reduce the travel time from Delhi to Faridabad by just 20 minutes, compared to the current hour.

This expressway will be approximately 60 km long and will connect Delhi to Faridabad and further to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. It has 12 entry and exit points.

Big Traffic Relief From Kalindi Kunj, Mathura Road

The new expressway stretch is expected to ease traffic pressure on Mathura Road and Kalindi Kunj, two of the most congested routes in Delhi-NCR. Thousands of daily commuters travelling between Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Palwal will benefit from a faster and signal-free route.

Mathura Road often faces severe congestion due to multiple traffic signals, while Kalindi Kunj remains one of the busiest choke points in the region.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on May 26 inspected the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway up to Faridabad Sector-65, including the newly completed nine-kilometre section.

Authorities have already developed entry and exit points at Mithapur Chowk, offering major convenience to South Delhi residents. Commuters travelling from DND to Mithapur will also be able to avoid heavy traffic using the expressway.

Earlier, travelling from South Delhi to Sohna used to take nearly two-and-a-half hours. With the expressway, the journey can now reportedly be completed in just 28 minutes, while the Baroda-Mumbai Highway can be reached within 30 minutes.

The DND-Sohna corridor, developed under the Bharatmala Project, spans 59.063 kilometres and has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 4,463 crore.

The access-controlled six-lane corridor will improve connectivity between Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram and Sohna.

Likely To Open In June

Officials said load testing is expected to be completed within the next 20 days. After this, a proposal for inauguration will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The expressway is likely to open for public use in the second week of June.
