Vishwadeepak Tripathi, Maharajganj: A former US Navy SEAL, Jordan Brown, was arrested by authorities within Indian territory, just 30 meters from the Nepal border. Official sources state that Brown entered the country with illegal intentions.
Brown, who served six years in the Navy SEALs, a unit specialised in sea, air, and land warfare, had reportedly been operating under a private military contract for the past two years. An investigation into his activities and motives is currently underway.
Probe Reveals Plot To Instigate Protests In Nepal And Bangladesh
Investigations have revealed that the former US Navy SEAL arrived in India in November 2025, with plans to travel to Nepal and Bangladesh. According to sources, Brown aimed to create a platform for protests against the governments in these countries by creating an atmosphere of instability. He travelled to various countries posing as an online real estate businessman.
Before his arrest near the border, Brown destroyed both of his mobile phones. Police are currently working to recover data from the damaged devices and an installed Airtel SIM card.
Interrogation Reveals Travel Timeline And Local Accomplices
During the interrogation, Brown revealed that after arriving in India in November 2025, he travelled to Mumbai, Goa, Delhi, Varanasi, Mysore, Kerala, Coimbatore, and Bengaluru. Investigators have also found connections between Brown and Christian missionaries and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the various guesthouses where he stayed.
Brown further revealed that he is unmarried and has completed a Master's degree in Business Studies from the University of California in 2014.
According to sources, he was assisted in India by two individuals identified as Raj and Chetan. A third accomplice, identified as Naaz, allegedly helped him with the travel plan from Bengaluru to the border and was facilitating his entry into Nepal. Authorities stated that Naaz fled to Nepal as soon as Brown was arrested by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Indian security agencies are currently trying to track all three suspects.
Brown Changing Statements Regarding Travel History
During interrogation, Brown has continuously changed his statements regarding his travel history and purpose of visiting India. Upon his arrest, he admitted to arriving at Mumbai airport in November 2025 on a three-month tourist visa, stating that he intended to stay in the country after its expiration in January 2026. However, he later retracted this claim, stating that he entered India via a sea route through Thailand, Bali, and Sri Lanka.
The former US Navy SEAL has claimed to have lost all essential travel documents, including his passport, while in Thailand. Investigators noted that despite the expiration of his visa, Brown chose to remain in India rather than returning home legally by paying the required fees. Police are currently examining CCTV footage from the various guesthouses where he stayed.
"A case has been registered against the American citizen under the Foreigners Act, and an investigation is currently underway into his travel history and the purpose of his arrival in India. The person who attempted to help him cross the Nepal border illegally is also being sought. Data will be recovered from the American citizen's mobile phone to gather relevant information. Further action will be taken based on any evidence that emerges during the investigation. Police have been instructed to be extra vigilant to ensure that no one crosses the border without checking," Jagran.com quoted Basant Singh, Circle Officer of Nautanwa, as saying.
