Festival Special Train 2024: With the festive season approaching, Northern Railway is announcing to run special trains to handle the crowd during Diwali and Chhath Puja 2024. Diwali Special trains and Chhath Puja special trains will run from Delhi to Bihar. In collaboration with other zonal railways, this time it has been decided to run more special trains than in previous years.

A total of 1,082 special trains were run by Northern Railway from October 1 to November 30 last year. This time the number has been increased to 2,944 festival special trains being operated. This is 1,862 more than last year. Passenger facilities are also being increased at railway stations.

Diwali, Chhath Puja Special Trains From Bihar, UP

Of the 2,944 festival special trains announced so far, about 83 percent are being run for passengers travelling towards the east, i.e, from New Delhi to Barauni, Samastipur, Saharsa, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Jaynagar, Darbhanga, Jogbani, Patna.

Most of the special trains will run for cities like Kolkata, Guwahati, Howrah, Muzaffarpur, Katihar, Tatanagar, Lucknow etc. This will facilitate the passengers travelling towards the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, Assam.

Diwali Special Trains: Additional Coaches Being Added In Regular Trains

According to the officials, necessary steps are being taken so that people can celebrate the festival with their relatives. Diwali Special trains are being run as per the requirement. Additional coaches are being added to regular trains. Passengers on the waiting list will benefit from this. The number of passengers on each travel route is being assessed. Chhath Puja Special trains are being announced when there is a large crowd.

In the weekly meeting, the General Manager of Northern Railway Ashok Kumar Verma directed the officials to take care of the convenience of the passengers. They were asked to make proper arrangements for cleanliness in railway stations and trains, take appropriate steps for the safety of passengers and crowd management. Diwali Special Trains are operated every year from Delhi to Bihar, UP to benefit those going homes during festival season.
