Gujarat Cabinet Reshuffle: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday formed his new cabinet with 25 members, with Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi appointed as the new Deputy Chief Minister. Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife Rivaba was sworn in as minister of state in the Gujarat cabinet.

 Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers as well as those who were elevated to the cabinet rank and given MoS independent charge from ministers of state.

Ex-Gujarat Congress President Gets Ministerial Berth

Ex-Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia, who had defected to the BJP, took oath as a state cabinet minister, indicating that turncoats too get a reward in the BJP government.

All 16 Ministers' Surprise Resignations

The development comes just a day after all 16 ministers except Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel resigned, signalling major changes in his team.

In the previous cabinet, the council of ministers had 17 members, including CM Patel. Eight of them were cabinet-rank ministers while the others were Ministers of State (MoS).

BJP president JP Nadda reached Gandhinagar on Thursday evening and held meetings with CM Patel and other senior leaders of the party before finalising the names of the new cabinet.

Bhupendra Patel became chief minister for the second time on December 12, 2022. Patel recently completed five years in office.
