After the relentless rainfall on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in Gurugram. In light of that, the District Commissioner (DC) has issued an important advisory for corporate offices and schools.

Gurugram DC and Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority, Ajay Kumar, on Monday requested all corporate and private offices in the district to allow their employees to work from home.

The move is aimed at minimising the inconvenience and risk posed due to rain. Additionally, all the schools in the district have been instructed to conduct online classes on 02 September 2025.

The advisory added, "In view of the forecast: All corporate offices & private institutions are advised to guide employees to work from home. All schools in the district are advised to conduct online classes on 02-09-2025".

This decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of children and parents. In the advisory, the DC stated that the city recorded over 100 mm of rainfall between 3 pm and 7 pm. Due to this heavy rain, waterlogging and traffic jams were seen in many parts of the city.

The Meteorological Department has warned that this series of rains may continue on Tuesday as well, due to which the administration has already given instructions to be alert.

The waterlogging was witnessed on Sohna Road, Rajiv Chowk, and SPR, among other roads and areas. Apart from Gurugram, Delhi also witnessed incessant rainfall on Monday.

The heavy showers also caused waterlogging in many areas of the national capital. According to IMD the visibility fell at Palam Airport to 800 metres by 3:00 pm.

On Monday, as many as 308 flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport while five were cancelled at 7:01 pm, acording to the data from Flightradar24.
