Haryana Assembly Election 2024: The seat-sharing talks between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), two of the major constituents of the anti-BJP INDIA bloc, for a pre-poll alliance in poll-bound Harayana have hit a roadblock, news agency PTI reported on Friday. AAP is now considering to contest 50 Assembly seats across the stat on its own, sources cited by PTI said.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party is likely to issue its first list of candidates on Sunday, PTI's sources in the AAP claimed right before a meeting of the Congress party's central election committee."The alliance talks are on the verge of collapse in Haryana and the AAP is planning to contest 50 of the 90 assembly seats in the state on its own," they said.

However, during the day, speaking on the seat-sharing discussion between the two INDIA bloc allies, AAP MP Raghav Chadha said, "Talks are going on. We are hopeful that an alliance will form in favour of Haryana and the country. Every possible effort is being made." Earlier, Kejriwal had stated that AAP would independently contest all 90 seats in the upcoming Haryana Assembly election.

The AAP and the Congress joined forces to contest seats across Haryana, Delhi and Gujarat in the recent Lok Sabha polls. As part of the pact, AAP contested the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat in Haryana. The AAP candidate there, party state president Sushil Gupta, lost to BJP's Navin Jindal. The polling on all 90 Assembly seats across Haryana will be held in a single phase on October 5.
