According to the IMD, these regions are expected to experience rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40 to 70 kmph over the next few days. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious and follow official weather updates.
Rain, Thunderstorm Alert For THESE States
- The weather office has issued alerts for heavy rain and thunderstorms across 15 states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, as well as Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.
- Similar conditions are expected in Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura.
Delhi-NCR Weather Update
The national capital on Wednesday experienced strong winds reaching up to 100 kmph, accompanied by heavy rain and hail. According to a report by Hindustan Times, this sudden weather shift disrupted flight operations, with over 500 flights delayed, 15 diverted, and six forced to carry out 'go-arounds' due to the adverse conditions.
However, a shift in the weather pattern is expected as the IMD has forecast a steady rise in temperatures over the coming days. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to hover around 28 degrees Celsius.
Uttar Pradesh Weather Update
According to a report by Jagran.com, heavy rain and thunderstorms wreaked havoc in Uttar Pradesh over the past 24 hours, resulting in 75 deaths and leaving over a hundred people injured.
The weather caused widespread disruption, uprooting trees, toppling power poles, and damaging residential roofs. Both rail traffic and power supplies were affected. In response to these conditions, the IMD has issued a red alert for the region.
