India's First Hydrogen Train To Start Regular Service On Jind-Sonipat Route From July 19; Check Full Schedule

India's First Hydrogen Train Update: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off India's first hydrogen-powered passenger train, marking a major milestone in Indian Railways' transition towards cleaner transport. Following its inauguration, the 10-coach local DEMU trainset, operating under numbers 74010 and 74009, is scheduled to begin regular, commercial passenger service on Sunday, July 19.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Northern Railway, confirmed the development, stating, "The hydrogen train will commence its commercial operation on the Jind-Sonipat route from July 19."

India's First Hydrogen Local Train: Schedule And Timings

According to the schedule issued by Northern Railway, Train No. 74010 will depart Jind Junction at 7:40 AM and arrive at Sonipat at 9:40 AM. Following a one-hour stop, the return service, Train No. 74009, will depart Sonipat at 10:40 AM and reach Jind Junction at 01:00 PM.

Operated and maintained by the Delhi Division of the Northern Railway, the train will run six days a week, except Fridays.

Route And Travel Time

The hydrogen train will cover the 89.1-kilometre distance from Jind to Sonipat in two hours, at an average speed of 44.55 km/h. On the return journey from Sonipat to Jind, the total travel time will be 2 hours and 20 minutes due to scheduled operational adjustments along the route.
