A special committee of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly recommended to increase the salary of Chief Minister, Speaker, Minister and Leader of Opposition and whips.  The state government will take the final decision on the recommendation of the committee, which was tabled in the House on Monday by BJP MLA Ramchandra Chandravanshi, the convener of the committee.

According to the recommendation, the salary of the Chief Minister will be increased from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh per month and the salary of the Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Minister will be increased from Rs 65,000 to Rs 85,000 per month. The committee also suggested an increase in the charge allowance, regional allowance, hospitality allowance and housing loan for the Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Minister.

The charge allowance of the Chief Minister, Minister, Minister of State and Deputy Minister will be increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per day within the state and the charge allowance outside the state will be increased from Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000 per day.

Similarly, the regional allowance will be increased to Rs 95,000 per month instead of Rs 80,000 per month. The special committee also proposed to increase the hospitality allowance of the Chief Minister and other ministers in the state to Rs 70,000 and Rs 55,000, respectively.  

The recommendations of the committee include providing the Chief Minister and other ministers with a housing loan of Rs 50 lakh at the rate of four per cent annual interest.

The salary of the Speaker will be increased from Rs 78,000 to Rs 98,000 per month and the salary of the Deputy Speaker will be increased from Rs 55,000 to Rs 75,000 per month. The committee also proposed an increase in the regional allowance, hospitality allowance and housing loan for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker also.

The salary of the leader of the opposition party in the Assembly will be increased from Rs 65,000 to Rs 85,000 per month and the salary of the Chief Whip, Deputy Chief Whip and Whip of the state assembly will be increased to Rs 75,000, Rs 70,000, Rs 60,000 per month, respectively.

BJP MLA from Vishrampur Ramchandra Chandravanshi was the convener of the special committee which came up with these recommendations in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Monday. Other members of the committee include Poreyahat MLA Pradeep Yadav, Bhawnathpur BJP MLA Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Mahagama Congress MLA Deepika Pandey Singh and Baharagora JMM MLA Sameer Mohanty.
