J-K News: One of the terrorists who opened fire on an Army ambulance in an attempted ambush in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor area on Monday was killed by security forces, officials said. The firing incident was reported in the wee hours of Monday when the trio, hiding in a Shiva Temple in the Battal area of Jammu's Akhnoor, targeted an Army vehicle in a pre-planned attack. In the ensuing operation, the security forces have killed all three terrorists.
Several children returning home from tuition first saw the terrorists hiding in the temple, who stopped them and asked for a mobile phone. When the kids denied having a mobile, the terrorists threatened them by pointing guns at their heads, a Dainik Jagran report stated.
However, the terror operatives let the kids go after a while. The horrified lot went home and informed the parents who in turn called the police, the report added.
Attacked Army Ambulance, Porters
The terrorist opened fire on an Army ambulance, which was passing in front of the temple around 6: 30 in the morning. The commuters, however, saved themselves by ducking and avoiding the flurry of bullets, the report added. The terrorists also targeted several Army civilian workers passing by in front of the temple, who also had a hair-thick save.
Security Forces Ambush Terrorists
Around 9 am, security forces engaged terrorists in a sustained gunfight in the area. Drones and helicopters were also roped in to maintain a strong vigil on their movement and after a long round of gunfight, the firing stopped as one was neutralised. However, two have reportedly fled to the forest, where the Army is searching for them.
"Terrorists fired upon a convoy near #Asan, #Sunderbani Sector, targeting Army vehicles in the morning. Swift retaliation by own troops ensured foiling of the attempt ensuring no injuries. The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation to neutralize the terrorists is ongoing," posted White Knight Corps on X.
