Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today hold a mega rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut as part of BJP’s campaign for the high-stakes Lok Sabha polls. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Singh will also share the stage with PM Modi, making it the first joint rally since Singh joined NDA after severing ties with the INDIA Bloc.

Besides, Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana-- Yogi Adityanath and Nayab Singh Saini-- will also be present.

The Prime Minister will reach the rally venue-- Central Potato Research Institute-- at 3.15 pm on Sunday. UP BJP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary on Saturday reached the rally site to take stock of the preparations.

PM’s rally will target five Lok Sabha seats-- Meerut-Hapur, Muzaffarnagar, Kairana, Bijnor, Baghpat-- of Uttar Pradesh. Thus, leaders of both the BJP and RLD from all the aforementioned constituencies will be present at the rally. All the lawmakers of RLD will also be present. National General Secretary of Rashtriya Lok Dal, Sukhveer Singh Gathina, said that the alliance rally will be a successful one and everyone's participation will be visible, as per Jagran.com.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded actor Arun Govil, who essayed the role of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's mythological drama Ramayan, from the Meerut Lok Sabha seat.

As many as eight Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh will go into polls in the first phase on April 19. Over 80 candidates are in the fray to try their luck. Kairana Lok Sabha seat will witness a fight between 14 candidates.
