Jagran Correspondent, Bhopal | It seems that the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council (MPNRC)'s online registration system doesn't differentiate between humans and animals. Ironically, this is the reality of the council's portal. Recently, a donkey got registered as a nurse on the portal.

Certificate Issued For Donkey

Based on a photo of a donkey, some details, and scanned copies of two unrelated documents, the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Council issued a formal digital registration certificate in the name of "Donkey MPNRC." After the website was exposed, the council said to initiate an investigation and threaten to file an FIR.

Uploaded Donkey's Pic And Filled 'Anywhere' In Address

NSUI state vice president Ravi Parmar said he applied for registration through the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council's portal to expose its loopholes. He wrote: Name of candidate - Donkey, Father's name - Donkey MPNRC. The application included a picture of a donkey, the religion section listed "Other," the caste section listed "Animal," and the address section listed "Wherever Space Available."

Certificate Issued After Payment Of Fees

Instead of educational documents, such papers were uploaded that do not certify the actual academic qualifications. After paying the prescribed registration fee of Rs 2,050, a digital registration certificate was issued. In it, Dunkie MPNRRC was certified as a B.Sc. Nursing pass-out from Bhopal Nursing College and registered as a Nurse-Midwife. This registration is valid until September 2031.

Serious Questions On Document Verification Process

Explaining that he conducted this test to expose flaws in the Council's online registration process, document verification, and systemic functionality, Parmar questioned how documents are being verified; even a donkey could be registered. He argued that if applications can be accepted and certificates issued in this manner on the official portal, it's not just a technical glitch, but a serious question about the reliability of the registration process.

If a person obtains registration without actual nursing qualification and later gets a job in a hospital, nursing home or other health institution based on the same certificate, the safety of patients may be affected.

Under the old registration process, the application required 10th and 12th exam mark sheets, a B.Sc. Nursing course completion certificate, and mark sheets from all semesters of the provisional degree or diploma, verified by the college principal with a seal and signature. These were verified by the council, after which the documents were issued with a digital signature.

New Registrations Paused

Following the revelation, the council has removed the registration link from its portal. This means the online registration process has been suspended for a few days. The Council said it will resume soon after implementing the necessary safeguards.

Dr Beenu Kushwaha, President, MP Nurses Registration Council, said, "This is fraudulent. The IT cell has been asked to add more safeguards to the website. An FIR is being filed against the unidentified individual. The website was created for students, but some are misusing it."
