A woman and her husband adopted a six-year-old boy in 2018 with the hope of raising a son. Eight years later, she is now in the Delhi High Court, seeking permission to hand his custody over to CARA (Central Adoption Resource Authority) or the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
She has alleged that her adopted son has intellectual disability and hypersexual behaviour and expressed fears for her and her family's safety.
Hearing her plea, Justice Swarna Kant Sharma sought responses from CARA and other respondents and listed the matter for next hearing on September 30.
The petitioner said that she and her husband had adopted the boy from Assam in 2018. After some time, the boy started behaving aggressively.
While at his school, he allegedly attempted to kiss a 6-7-year-old girl and forcibly tried to take her into a bathroom. Following the incident, the boy was expelled from the school.
The petitioner said that after her husband died and the alleged incident, she moved with her family from Noida to Aligarh, to her elderly mother's home.
The conduct of the boy didn't change, leading to expulsions from multiple schools. The boy later started stealing from the home and used to run away.
Seeing his behaviour, she got him medically examined and found that he has an intellectual disability and hypersexual behaviour.
She submitted that the boy became increasingly aggressive and his hypersexual behaviour increased to cause concern as he grew older. She alleged that if the boy does not get money, he steals it and becomes violent, sparking fears for her and her family's safety.
The woman said that she is willing to bear the expenses to the best of her financial ability.
