Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday chaired the 10th Governing Council meeting of the NITI Aayog in New Delhi. During the meeting, PM Modi said that if states and the Centre work together like Team India.

He added that there is a need to increase the speed of development. In a post on X, the Niti Aayog said, "We have to increase the speed of development. If the Centre and all the States come together and work together like Team India, no goal is impossible."

The theme of the Governing Council meeting is 'Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047'. "Viksit Bharat is the goal of every Indian. When every state is Viksit, then Bharat will be Viksit. This is the aspiration of its 140 crore citizens," Modi said.

PM Modi also pushed for tourism development in each state with 'one state, one global destination'. He said, "States should develop at least one tourist destination per state at par with global standards and by providing all facilities and infrastructure - One State: One Global Destination. It would also lead to the development of the neighbouring cities as tourist places," he said.

The council is the apex body of Niti Aayog, chaired by the prime minister, that includes all state chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers. 

It was the first major meeting of PM Modi with the chief ministers of all states and the lieutenant governors of Union Territories after Operation Sindoor. 

The CMs of the opposition parties were likely to raise pressing issues in the state. Punjab CM was expected to raise the water distribution issue between Punjab and Haryana through the Bhakhra Nangal dam. Similarly, states like Tamil Nadu and West Bengal were to raise the issue of funds.
