- Centre discloses names of six Operation Sindoor casualties.

More than a year after Operation Sindoor, the Centre has officially disclosed the names of six Indian armed forces personnel who lost their lives during the cross-border military operation against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The disclosure marks the first formal acknowledgement of military casualties suffered during the mission.
The names have been added to the Roll of Honour on the National War Memorial website (nationalwarmemorial.gov.in) and engraved on Wall 3D of the National War Memorial in New Delhi under the 2025 section, which commemorates personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
Six Personnel Honoured
The six personnel recognised are:
* Subedar Major Pawan Kumar - Headquarters 10 Infantry Brigade
* Rifleman Sunil Kumar (Vir Chakra) - 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry
* Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar - 5 Field Regiment
* Aviation Technician Mood Muralinaik - 851 Light Regiment
* Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh - 237 Field Workshop Company
* Sergeant Surendra Kumar (Vayu Medal) - 39 Wing
Rifleman Sunil Kumar was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra for gallantry, while Sergeant Surendra Kumar was a recipient of the Vayu Medal, underscoring the contribution of decorated personnel during the operation.
While rumours about military personnel deaths after the brief May 2025 India-Pakistan conflict had been heard, none of the names of military personnel killed during Operation Sindoor had till now been acknowledged by the government publicly. The inclusion of the six names at the National War Memorial now serves as the first official public confirmation of those losses.
Operation Sindoor Details
Earlier in May 2025, the Air Force launched strategic attacks against the terror sites in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and Pakistan's territory. It eliminated over 100-200 terrorists in the deadly strikes and also destroyed Pakistani air defence radars and 20 per cent of their air assets. India also destroyed nine high-value terror launchpads linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
The key operation was launched after 26 tourists were brutally killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam district by the terrorists. In a high-profile meeting held immediately after the attack, India pledged to retaliate and teach a lesson to those giving shelter to these terrorists.
The addition of the six names to the National War Memorial formally ensures that their sacrifice during Operation Sindoor is recorded among the nation's military heroes and preserved in India's official Roll of Honour.
