Who Is Shahzad Bhatti: Special Cell of Delhi Police, on Sunday, busted a module being led by Shahzad Bhatti, a Pakistani national and a gangster, who is currently working for the Pakistan spy agency, ISI. Police arrested three members of the module who were working on the direction of Bhatti. The trio were involved in hurling a grenade in front of Gurudaspur Police Station in Punjab on November 25. After busting the syndicate, the police now focus on Bhatti, who is hiding in Pakistan.

A joint investigation by the Delhi Police Special Cell, Punjab Police, and central agencies has identified Bhatti as the mastermind of an international terrorist module operating from Pakistan to incite youth in India into terrorism.

Bhatti Claims To Be 'Soldier Of Islam And Pakistan'

According to a dossier from Indian intelligence agencies, Bhatti is a resident of Pakistan's Punjab province and conducts anti-India activities at the behest of the ISI. He also holds a Moroccan passport and operates through the UAE. On social media, he describes himself as a "soldier of Islam and Pakistan."

Leveraging Social Media To Recruit Indian Youth

Investigations have revealed that Bhatti uses social media as a weapon to recruit Indian youth. He creates fake profiles on Instagram, Facebook, and Telegram, luring unemployed youth with money, and then enlisting them in his network by portraying a gangster lifestyle.

The arrested youth revealed that Bhatti provided grenade training through videos and sent the time, location, and complete blueprint of the attack via mobile phone. Funding through hawala networks, he incited the youth to take up arms.

The November 25 grenade attack on the Gurdaspur police station was part of this module, in which Bhatti provided instructions to his Indian associates. Furthermore, recce videos of attacks on several sensitive locations in Amritsar, Ferozepur, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh were also sent to Bhatti.

Lawrence's Brother Anmol A Targeted

Furthermore, he was in contact with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and has been found to be involved in the conspiracy to murder Bishnoi's brother Anmol. According to Delhi Police, the claim of throwing a grenade at the women's police station in Hisar is also linked to this module.

So far, police have recovered weapons, live ammunition, reconnaissance videos, and chat messages linked to a Pakistani handler from this network. However, two to three members of the module are still reported to be absconding, and the search for them has been intensified.

According to security agencies, Bhatti poses a significant threat to India's internal security as he is plotting to create instability across the country through social media, drone supply, and arms smuggling.
