In a latest development in the murder of a 25-year-old state-level tennis player, Radhika Yadav, Gurugram police on Sunday said that they were not seeking statements from friends or those who posted tributes or made remarks about the case, calling it an ‘open and shut’ case, Hindustan Times reported. The police further said that a charge sheet is being filed based on strong forensic evidence, the father’s confession and other testimonies.
Deepak Yadav, Radhika’s father, shot her dead at point-blank range at their residence in Sector 52, Gurugram, on Thursday. Deepak was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Saturday.

Here’s What We Know So Far
- According to cops, the tennis player was killed by her father over a disagreement regarding her tennis academy in Sector 57, Gurugram, while reports of her rising popularity on social media, Instagram reels and music video being the reason have also surfaced.

- Yadav’s friend and fellow athlete, Himaanshika Singh, in an Instagram post, alleged that she was facing restrictions from family and had given up, agreeing to ‘whatever family wants her to do’.
- Himaanshika added that Radhika’s mental state had significantly deteriorated in the days leading up to her death. “She was completely broken and had simply given up. She even told her family that she was ready to live according to their instructions.” She further said that her father planned her murder three days in advance.
- Radhika’s uncle on Sunday said that the accused Deepak Yadav had confessed to killing his daughter and said that he should be hanged, PTI reported.
- During interrogation, Deepak confessed that the murder was the result of a build-up resentment. He confessed that taunts from villagers about living off his daughter’s income and questioning her character disturbed him deeply.
- Inam-ul Haq, co-actor of the late tennis player Radhika Yadav in a music video, has said that he had no connection to her murder and had not been in touch with her after the video shoot. Earlier, police said that the video might have caused the tension at home.
- Radhika Yadav's body was cremated in Gurugram, Haryana, on Friday, following a postmortem examination that revealed multiple gunshot injuries.
