The India  National Congress has rubbished a viral video showing a picture of Rahul Gandhi inside the Sanitary pads along with the packets of napkins distributed under ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’ in Bihar.

In an X post, by the official handle of the Indian National Congress (INCIndia), featuring the party’s leader, Alka Lamba, the party has clarified that the video going viral on social media platforms showing the picture of Rahul Gandhi inside the sanitary pads along with the packets is fake. In the video shared by the handle, Alka Lamba is featured, showing the real sanitary packets distributed under ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’ in Bihar, featuring the image of Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on the packet only. The sanitary pad itself bears no image and looks like the normal one, generally used by the common population.

Calling the video fake, the Congress party promised to take action against those circulating it online.

Earlier, the Congress party announced the distribution of 5 lakh sanitary napkins ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, which later drew sharp criticism from the BJP and others as the pink packet featured Rahul Gandhi’s picture on it.

The BJP termed the move as “anti-women” and an “insult” to the women of the State.

“We’ll launch a campaign through the Mahila [women’s] Congress to distribute sanitary napkins with an aim to reach five lakh women. Mahila Congress workers will create awareness around the subject among the women,” State Congress president Rajesh Kumar told media persons on Friday.
