Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya is all set to celebrate Ram Navami (birth anniversary of lord Ram) on Sunday with thousands of devotees arriving in the city from all across the country. While the devotees started the day with taking a dip in the holy Saryu river, one of the major highlights of the day is the Surya Tilak ceremony, scheduled at 12 PM, signifying the birth of Lord Ram.
The Surya Tilak ceremony is designed by the Indian scientists and takes place on every Ram Navami. It is a ceremony where special mirror and lens-based apparatus are used to ensure that a ray of sunlight falls on the forehead of the idol. The projection of the sunlight resembles a tilak, making the ceremony an auspicious moment for the devotees.

While the curtain is expected to be opened at 11.45 am, followed by the Bhog offering, the Surya Tilak ceremony will begin at 12 pm. The ceremony will take place for around 6 minutes, where the devotees can see the ray of sunlight falling on the forehead of the idol.
The authorities on Saturday stated that the spiritual experience will be broadcast live on Doordarshan. Apart from this, the ceremony will be live streamed on the social media platforms managed by the temple trust. They further stated that the people who are in Ayodhya but could not reach the temple due to the rush can see the ceremony on LED screens installed across Ayodhya.
Besides, several prominent personalities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu, extended their wishes on this occasion. PM Modi stated that he will visit Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram to celebrate the festival. "Ram Navami greetings to everyone! May the blessings of Prabhu Shri Ram always remain upon us and guide us in all our endeavours. Looking forward to being in Rameswaram later today!" PM Modi stated.
