A nursing student was reportedly kidnapped and gang-raped by unidentified men in Tamil Nadu's Theni, police said on Monday, adding that the victim was discovered near a train station. After taking a bus to leave her hometown, she contacted her father to let him know that a black-dressed woman was following her.
Later, the victim's father approached the Theni Police station after realising that he couldn't contact her phone.
The victim went to the police when the accused reportedly abandoned her close to the Dindigul train station, telling them she had been kidnapped and sexually raped around 50 miles from the station.
According to Dindigul District Superintendent of Police Pradeep, who also paid a visit to the hospital for an investigation, the student was admitted to the Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital for medical care.
The victim was having an epileptic seizure while being questioned, which made it difficult for the police team to interview her.
According to the police, an FIR has been filed under two provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an inquiry has been started to apprehend the accused.
Earlier in Telangana, a female passenger was reportedly raped by a bus conductor while travelling from Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh. The crime took place on the night of September 18 in Kukatpally. The bus conductor has been arrested.
According to police, the accused, identified as Sai Kumar, targeted the woman as she boarded the bus (AP07 TT 6633) for her journey to her hometown, Samarlakota, AP. Noticing that she was travelling alone, he initiated a conversation with her. Kumar then instructed her to move to the back seat of the bus, claiming that her original seat would be uncomfortable.
