Cuddalore School Holiday: The Cuddalore District Collector has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges for Tuesday, December 3. The announcement came amid heavy rain and floods in the district. Earlier, there was a holiday in the Chengalpattu district's school and colleges on Monday, December 2, in five taluks of the district due to heavy rains.

Cuddalore School Holiday: When Will Classes Resume?

As of now, there is no official information on the conduct of the classes. Once out, the students will be able to check the details regarding the opening of schools on indiatvnews.com. Students have also been advised to stay in touch with the school authorities for latest updates.

Tamil Nadu Weather Update

The depression, the remnant of cyclonic storm Fengal over north coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, weakened into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area on Monday, the India Meteorological Department said. The IMD said: "The depression (Remnant of Cyclonic Storm 'Fengal') over north coastal Tamil Nadu & Puducherry moved nearly westwards and weakened into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 02nd December 2024, over North Interior Tamil Nadu. The remnant low-pressure area is likely to emerge over southeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea off north Kerala-Karnataka coasts around 3rd December 2024."

The IMD stated that the cyclone had weakened and a low-pressure area had formed over north interior Tamil Nadu by Monday morning. “The remnant low-pressure area is likely to emerge over southeast and adjoining east central Arabian Sea off north Kerala-Karnataka coasts around December 3,” IMD said in a post on X.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Bengaluru and its surrounding districts until December 3 due to adverse weather conditions. Light to moderate rainfall is expected to persist until December 5.
The University of Madras has announced that the regular examinations scheduled for today (December 2) have been postponed, and the revised dates will be announced later.

Besides, an orange alert has been issued for four Kerala districts — Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad — warning of very heavy rainfall, and a yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam predicting isolated heavy rains.

As many as three trains were cancelled between Vikravandi and Mundiyampakkam due to the suspension of the bridge as the water level continued to rise.
