- Venkata Ramana bedridden since birth with bone ailment.

Even after being confined to a bed from his birth owing to a rare genetic bone ailment, a 27-year-old man, Venkata Ramana, from Adilabad in Telangana, has not given up on his dreams. Despite experiencing the hurdles related to movement his whole life, Ramana managed to complete his studies from home with the help of his family and the people in the locality.
Unable to enrol himself in school because of the bone disorder, Venkata Ramana received the entire amount of his initial education from home. With the constant support and encouragement he received from his grandmother and school teachers, Venkata Ramana continued to learn more.

“From childhood, my grandmother supported me a lot. She passed away last year. She taught me through charts and alphabets, etc. and during my childhood, I received the kind of basic education that children in primary classes like P1 and P2 learn today. I also learned many things with the support of a local trainer who used to come every evening and teach me for around one and a half hours. Then, in 2018, I passed my Class 10 examination through open schooling,” PTI quoted Ramana.
However, his education journey became more difficult after new health complications emerged.
“After 2019, I wanted to continue my further studies, but unfortunately, I faced some health issues. Since I already had Osteogenesis Imperfecta, some neurological complications also started,” he said.
Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a rare inherited condition that makes a person's bones brittle and highly susceptible to fractures. Many of those affected suffer from repeated broken bones, mobility problems and subsequent health issues that impact their lives permanently.
The physical limitations of Ramana did not deter him from becoming economically self-sufficient. With one hand, he typed on a mobile phone kept beside him. He slowly learnt to use the internet and computer with one hand. Following this, he acquired an AI-based digital marketing certification course and entered the professional sphere.

As reported by ETV Bharat, Ramana currently works as a team leader in a digital marketing agency and draws a salary of above Rs 50,000 per month. He has also trained almost 300 youths in digital services with online tools like Google Meet.
His parents, Surekha and Santosh Kumar, both government school teachers from Kailash Nagar, have remained his strongest support system throughout the journey. Expressing pride in her son’s achievements, his mother said, “Taking care of him never felt like a burden. We are blessed to have him. Today, seeing him succeed in life despite the challenges gives us immense happiness.”
