The beheaded body of a man who was missing for a month was found from a well on Tuesday, reported PTI citing officials. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur.

Speaking about the incident, SHO of Kotwali Dehat police station Satyendra Kumar Singh Satyendra Kumar Singh, the officials at first pulled out the beheaded body of the man from the well, followed by the severed head.

The victim, who has been identified as 40-year-old Vinod Mishra, was a native of Agresar village under Kotwali Dehat police station area. He went missing on September 29 after he went out around 8 pm to attend nature's calls.

A missing complaint was also filed by the officials after a complaint from the victim's family.

The incident came to light and the body of the victim was discovered by some farmers who had gone near the well in the morning of Tuesday. The farmers informed the police after they noticed foul smell emanating from the well and peeped into the well.

The police pulled out the body only to find it beheaded. The officials then started looking for the head by draining out water from the well. After six hours of continuous effort, the body was recovered with the help of divers.

SHO Singh stated that appropriate legal measures were taken following the identification of the body.

The victim's father, meanwhile, an electrician, has claimed that his son was murdered and that his body was subsequently disposed of in a well.
