A viral video of a delivery agent standing motionless in the lanes of Chandigarh has sparked concerns over the arrival of zombie drugs in India. Looking at the video, people have speculated that the man might have been addicted to the US-based drug. The netizens have raised concerns over the harmful use of this drug; however, the exact nature of his conditions remains vague.

The video was circulated on social media on March 14, 2026. It was shot at Sector 33B in Chandigarh. The delivery agent was standing motionless for almost two and a half hours. The man remained unresponsive, had a "bidi" in his mouth, and had a blank face.

When the passerbys saw the man from the distance, they immediately alerted the authorities. The police arrived at the spot and took the man for medical evaluation.

How Did The Netizens React?

The netizens said that the unusual behavior may be signs of being drugged with fentanyl, which is usually referred to as a zombie drug in the US. One of the users said, "The zombie drug has arrived from the border. Someone on the lines of Yogi Ji is needed."

Another said, "Wait, what? Zombie drug (fentanyl) has reached India? If yes, it’s not a good sign."

A woman, claiming to be a doctor on X, said, “He is using a drug commonly called the zombie dope. That's fentanyl, a powerful opioid sedative used for analgesia and sedation mixed with a veterinary drug, Xylazine, a muscle relaxant inducing extreme stupor-like drowsiness in animals. (Prohibited for human use)… A combination of these two drugs results in the typical fentanyl lean posture. Body bent at the waist, staring gaze, frozen slow movements... This guy needs rehabilitation and counseling along with 24-hour supervision.”

The clip quickly triggered a reaction from some social‑media users claiming the video showed the effects of a “zombie drug”—a term sometimes used to describe powerful combinations of opioids and sedatives such as fentanyl and xylazine.

In the US and parts of Europe, a mix of these substances has been linked to extreme sedation, slowed movement, and a “blank stare,” leading to informal labels like "zombie drug" or "tranq dope."

How Harmful Is The Drug?

According to experts, such mixes can be hazardous and fatal. Additionally, the substance is difficult to detect and is not approved for recreational use.

If one consumes the drug, he/she might feel drowsy and confused and experience slow movement accompanied by a blank and unresponsive expression. In severe cases, the drug can also result in reduced heart rate and breathing, impair coordination, and leave a person in a near-stupor state.

The drug might show its reaction within minutes and can last for hours, depending on the dose at which it was consumed.
