Mumbai News: A 55-year-old woman lost her life, while her two daughters and an auto-rickshaw driver sustained serious injuries after a speeding Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) vehicle crashed into their three-wheeler in Goregaon East. The accident occurred on a flyover along the Western Express Highway in the early hours of Thursday, police said.

The victim, identified as Hazra Shaikh from Jogeshwari, was returning home with her daughters, Shaina, 22 and Shirin, 17, after celebrating Eid with relatives in South Mumbai. The accident took place around 1:30 AM when the CISF vehicle, driven by S. Yadav, lost control on the Western Express Highway. Yadav allegedly crossed the median and collided head-on with the auto rickshaw.

The Hindustan Times report cited, Senior Police Inspector Raju Mane as confirming that Yadav was arrested and a medical examination confirmed he was intoxicated. Eyewitnesses noted that there were three other individuals in the CISF vehicle who appeared to be drinking as well.

Hazra's husband, who was in a different auto behind them, witnessed the accident and quickly rushed the victims to nearby hospitals. According to family member Jawed Shaikh, Hazra suffered multiple injuries, while her daughters and the auto driver remain in critical condition.

Yadav has been charged under section 106(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act (drunk driving). The investigation continues as authorities work to gather more details about the incident.
