Mumbai Crime: A 23-year-old civil engineer has been arrested in Mumbai for allegedly killing his wife following a domestic argument, police said. The incident took place at the couple’s rented accommodation in the Govandi area, where the woman was found critically injured and later declared dead at hospital.
The accused has been identified as Manjar Imam Hussain, who works with a private firm. Police said he was taken into custody on Sunday and booked on charges of murder, as per an Indian Express report.
Argument Escalates Into Violence
According to the police, the incident occurred around 10 PM on December 19. The couple allegedly got into an argument during dinner after Manjar complained about the food. Officers said he claimed the biryani prepared by his wife was tasteless and had excess salt.

The verbal dispute soon turned violent. In a fit of anger, Manjar allegedly pushed his wife and hit her head against a wall, causing serious injuries.
Neighbours who heard the argument rushed to the house and found the woman unconscious. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Marriage And Family Background
The victim, Nazia Parveen (20), was a resident of Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh. She was the eldest among her siblings. Her father works in Saudi Arabia, while her mother lives in their native village with Nazia’s younger brothers and sisters.
Police said Nazia and Manjar, who are maternal relatives, had been in a relationship for nearly two years before getting married. Their families later consented and the wedding took place on October 20, 2023, in Uttar Pradesh.

Frequent Domestic Disputes
After marriage, the couple shifted to Mumbai and rented a room in Shivaji Nagar, Govandi. Officers said the two often argued over small domestic issues. Police also learnt that Nazia had spoken to her family about repeated quarrels at home.
Case Registered After Family Statement
Police conducted a panchnama and informed Nazia’s family about her death. Her uncle reached Mumbai and recorded a statement, based on which a murder case was registered at the Shivaji Nagar Police Station.
Further investigation in the case is ongoing.
