Gita Jayanti 2023: The most revered and influential Hindu text that has impacted a great number of people is the Bhagavad Gita, and its birthday is renowned as Gita Jayanti. It is also known as Bhagavad Gita Jayanti for this reason. Shukla Ekadashi is the month in which this day falls. The English calendar indicates that the occasion occurs in November or December. On this auspicious day, Lord Krishna issued the enduring message to Arjuna in Kurukshetra. The devotees of Lord Krishna commemorate this day with great enthusiasm and worship the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. This year, Gita Jayanti will be celebrated on 22nd December 2023. It is the 5160th Anniversary of the sacred Srimad Bhagavad Gita.

Gita Jayanti 2023: Significance Of This Sacred Day 

It was on this day that Lord Krishna narrated the Bhagavad Gita to warrior prince Arjuna on the battlefield Of Kurukshetra when he was feeling too vulnerable to fight with his relatives and teachers. In Dwapar Yuga, Lord Krishna imparted divine knowledge to his close companion Arjuna and motivated him to fight like a Kshatriya. Lord Krishna discusses karma, the Self, the Supreme Self, the purpose of yoga, the distinction between our Self and our material, how our environment affects our consciousness, and how to realise the perfection of life while providing Arjun all kinds of spiritual and material guidance in the Bhagavad Gita.

Gita Jayanti 2023: Rituals Associated With This Sacred Day 

Shastras state that on the day of Mokshada Jayanti, people fast and worship Lord Krishna, Maharishi Ved Vyas, and Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. For the sake of fasting and worship, there are some customs that must be followed. First, let us perform the Puja Vidhi of the auspicious Gita Jayanti and Mokshada Ekadashi Vrat. 

- A Day before the Ekadashi fast, i.e. Dashmi Tithi, the devotees are only allowed to eat once in the afternoon. 

- Wake up early in the morning on the day of Ekadashi, preferably during the Brahma Muhurat and vow to uphold the fast. 

- Consume sattvic food and fast from grains, beans, onion, garlic, alcohol, eggs and meat. 

- Chant Lord Vishnu and Krishna mantras while also performing Harinam Sankirtan. 

- On Gita Jayanti Day, devotees must revere Srimad Bhagavad Gita with a pious heart. It is also believed that on the day of Gita Jayanti, worshipping Conch also brings positive results.
