Apple 2024 iPads: In 2023, Apple launched no new iPads. However, this is set to change as rumours of an iPad lineup overhaul next year heat up even further. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a reliable name for Apple-related leaks, has shared that the business plans to upgrade its existing iPads in an effort to increase sales and simplify the product line.

In the current catalogue, the company sells five devices: iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad 10th Gen, iPad 9th Gen and iPad Mini. Besides this, a set of confusing accessories, such as the Apple Pencil, in three different iterations awaits buyers.

However, to reduce this confusion, Apple will likely mark the Pro model as a clear upgrade over the Air, Gurman added. The company will reportedly introduce Pro models with OLED display, upgraded design, M3 processor and a new Magic Keyboard to make it the top-class offering.

Plus, the Pro models may offer a bigger screen than the Air. The iPad Air will likely offer 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch trims, and the Pro could debut in 11-inch and 13-inch screen sizes, a similar strategy to the MacBook laptops. Speaking of Air, the model could offer M2 (and two screen options) to differentiate it from the 10th generation model. Gurman noted that the iPad 10th gen will not be upgraded simultaneously.

Unlike the previous decade, where there were only two models, Apple added newer options with time, ranging from the low-end model, Air and top of the line Pro. Since its introduction in 2010, the iPads have been well-received. With newer options, Apple aimed to serve a diverse category of buyers. However, the lineup ended up being more confusing.

iPad 2024 Models Launch Timeline

The new iPad Pro and iPad Air will likely debut in March. iPad Mini and iPad 10th Gen may be refreshed later. This could be an attempt to continue to serve students and the education market and lock horns with Chromebooks. Plus, the Magic Keyboard upgrade could only arrive for the iPad Pro.
