More than just the iPhone 17 range, Apple unveiled at its September 2025 launch event. The company also introduced the AirPods Pro 3, its latest top-end true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones. Loaded with advanced health sensors, enhanced noise-cancellation and trailblazing features such as real-time translation, the AirPods Pro 3 is the company’s most ambitious step up to wearable audio.

Health and Fitness Features

The flagship feature on the AirPods Pro 3 is the built-in heart rate sensor, now turning them in to a mini health buddy. Apple has built in a custom PPG sensor which uses infrared light to measure blood flow, along with motion sensors, GPS and iPhone on‑device machine learning so that you can store all your readings in one place. This combination allows users to:

  • Track heart rate and calorie burn
  • Monitor over 50 workout types
  • Close their Apple Fitness Move rings
  • Receive personalised Workout Buddy insights

This essentially turns the AirPods Pro 3 into a fitness and wellness device, rounding out the Apple Watch ecosystem.

Sound and Audio Upgrades

Apple has come a long way in terms of audio. The adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) now can automatically adjust up to twice more and is even stronger at blocking out background noise, supported by ultra-low noise microphones and computational audio superior to the standard ANC on the OnePlus Buds Z. In conjunction with an acoustic multiport design, the earphones provide:

  • Improved spatial audio
  • Clearer vocals and bass via Adaptive EQ
  • More natural Personalised Transparency Mode, including clearer self-voice

Real-Time Translation and AI Features

One of the standout features is Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence. The AirPods Pro 3 can:

  • Translate conversations hands-free in real time
  • Display live transcriptions on a paired iPhone
  • Support languages like English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish at launch
  • Expand to Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese later in 2025

This makes the AirPods Pro 3 not just earbuds but also a global communication tool.

Hearing Health and Accessibility

Apple has also expanded its focus on hearing health:

  • Certified Hearing Protection (EU & UK)
  • Automatic Conversation Boost for hearing-aid users
  • Noise exposure reduction for safer listening
  • Enhanced Hearing Test using improved ANC

These additions make the AirPods Pro 3 more inclusive and medically relevant.

Design and Comfort

This year Airpods Pro 3 comes with a new ergonomic design that is aimed at delivering a secure fit with various ear shapes. This time Apple will be offering 5 different sizes of eartips including XXS option for small ears as well. For ensuring the resistance against dust and water both earbuds and case feature an IP57 rating.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery performance has also improved:

  • Up to 8 hours of playback per charge
  • Up to 10 hours in Transparency Mode with hearing aid features
  • Total of 24 hours with ANC using the case
  • Fast charging: 5 minutes in the case = 1 hour playback
  • Case supports USB Type-C and Qi2 wireless charging

Connectivity

These Airpods from Apple use Bluetooth 5.3 and also come with lossless audio that makes sure that the connection stays stable and provides richer sound.
