Apple Pencil 2023: Apple's New 'Most Affordable' USB-C Pencil For iPad Starts From Rs 7,900 In India; Check Features, Availability

Apple, a Cupertino-based tech giant, announced its new Apple Pencil in India today. The company claims the "new more affordable" Pencil offers an extra choice for iPad users. Having a matte finish and flat sides, the Pencil can attach to the frame of an iPad and charge via the USB-C port.

Having tilt sensitivity and low latency, the USB-C Pencil can be a great companion for sketching, note-making and illustrating. The gadget will work across all iPads with a Type-C port. The new launch takes the total catalogue of Apple Pencil to three.

New Apple Pencil (USB-C) Features

Like its predecessors, the new Pencil offers the same pixel-perfect accuracy, according to Apple's press release. It supports iPadOS' Scribble, Quick Note, and Freeform features. With the iPad Pro M2, the new Pencil supports the hover function to draw with precision.

Within the sliding inlet sits the USB-C connector for charging and device connection. Once attached to the iPad, the accessory switches to sleep mode to conserve battery. The USB-C Pencil weighs 20.5g and measures 155mm in length.

Compared to the Apple Pencil (2nd generation), the Pencil (USB-C) lacks pressure sensitivity, wireless charging and pairing, and a double-tap function to change tools. However, with the new iPadOS 17, all Pencils will bring an enhanced on-screen experience.

Apple Pencil USB-C 2023 Price

Touted as the "most affordable model," the new Apple Pencil will start from Rs 7,900 in India. It will be available for buying in November. As for compatibility, the USB-C Pencil will work on all USB-C iPads, including "iPad (10th generation), iPad Air (4th and 5th generations), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th generations), and iPad mini (6th generation)."

For comparison, Apple Pencil (1st generation) works with iPad 10th and 9th generation models and is priced at Rs 9,500. It comes bundled with a USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter for pairing and charging. Current users can avail the adapter for Rs 900. The Pencil (2nd generation) is priced at Rs 11,900 and is compatible with "iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad Pro" tablets.
