The X platform, owned by Elon Musk, is working on a downvoting function that will raise the replies' score. The 'downvote' function may resemble a 'dislike' button rather than the Reddit-style downvote icon, according to recent discoveries, though the firm hasn't made an official announcement about its plans, according to TechCrunch.

According to code references discovered in the X iOS app, there is a button that resembles a broken heart icon next to the heart-shaped "like" button on the microblogging platform, and there are also explicit references to a "downvote" feature.

The company tested the feature in 2021, prior to Musk's takeover.Reverse engineer Aaron Perris, @aaronp613 on X, found references to a downvote functionality that seemed to be under construction in X's iOS app earlier this month.

According to the report, he has now discovered other graphic files in the iOS app that demonstrate how the button can be designed to resemble a broken heart in addition to more explicit references to the feature itself.

At first, the business tested buttons for upvoting and downvoting on every post. The most recent tests, however, indicate that X is just thinking about permitting downvotes on answers. Musk announced in June that a new function that will automatically hide all likes for X users will be released.
