It seems the tech companies plan to foray into the untapped smart ring market across the globe. Speaking of India, while BoAt has finally announced the sale date and price of its Smart Ring, South Korean giant Samsung is reportedly gearing up to release its upcoming smart finger accessory in the market. According to Galaxy Club, the company trademarked a few names. Out of these, one could be the official name of the smart device, which is expected to debut next year.
The report added that the names include Galaxy Glia, Galaxy Feel and Galaxy Curio. Earlier, the company had registered 'Galaxy Ring'. Plus, this month, it did the same for terms such as Galaxy One, Circle, Rhythm, Pulse, Insight and Index. These are probably associated with the software and operations that may govern the ring.
The software of the ring could be capable of monitoring and assessing "biometric and physiological data". It may also store health records in the software for medical guidance. GalaxyClub speculates two possibilities for the upcoming ring - there might be multiple rings catering to a diverse set of users or a single one with varying names in different countries.
But, the main question of a possible launch date is still unclear. Reports wildly speculate the launch may happen alongside the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. It could likely debut in stores after that.
According to reports, the ring may deliver more precise health data than the Galaxy Watch because of the right fit on the finger. However, this might not be the case with blood pressure readings. Moving to other latest updates in the smart ring market, BoAt's Smart Ring is all set to hit the markets on August 28.
On a related note, a reliable tipster recently tipped about an affordable version of the Z foldable phones that could launch next year. You can read more about this update here.
