Google's Generative AI Tool Bard Expands Its User Base; Check If Your Account Is In The List

GOOGLE rolled out its AI experiments with Bard to select personal Google Accounts recently, and the tech giant will expand the tool to more Google Workspace, legacy G Suite and more accounts. For context, Bard is the search leader's answer to the widely popular OpenAI's ChatGPT.

In a blog post on Friday, the tech giant shared the update that Workspace admins would be able to allow access to Bard through the Admin console. The administrator can head to the Admin interface, find the "Apps" section from the list, select the "Additional Google services" and "Early Access Apps" option.

Google Bard: What has changed

Earlier, Bard's AI potential was confined to personal Google Accounts. With the update, the AI tool will seep into Workspace accounts via the Early Access Apps control. 

"Note that Bard is separate from the AI powered innovations we're working on for Google Workspace," the Workspace Updates page added.

The controls to toggle access will be live for all Workspace users. However, the final ticket to the AI tool will depend on Bard's availability in the customer's country.

Rollout Timeline

It will be released gradually in the next two weeks.

Eligible Accounts

The blog listed the accounts that will be eligible for the update. Here are the details 

- All Workspace accounts, except Google Workspace for Education accounts with users under the age of 18

- Legacy G Suite Basic and Business users

A user must note enhancements to Google Docs, Sheets and more utility web apps would be different from what Bard will offer through artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Google is planning to bring easy access to Bard on Pixel phones via a widget that can be placed on the home screen, as per media reports.

Speaking of other updates on Google, the tech giant is readying to host the Google I/O event this month with a bunch of high-profile announcements encompassing the Pixel Fold, Google's first foldable phone. It will also bring the Google Pixel 7a to India on May 11.
