What Is Baal Aadhaar?

In India, Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). For children under 5 years, a special version called Baal Aadhaar is available.

The Baal Aadhaar contains the child’s:

- Name

- Photograph

- Date of birth

- Gender

- Linkage to one parent’s Aadhaar number

Notably, biometric data (fingerprints or iris scans) is not required for children below 5. However, since many documents and services like Passport need Aadhaar linking, getting a Baal Aadhaar for your child is highly recommended.
