Instagram Just Got Mysterious: Secret Reels You Can’t See Without a Code

To keep the experience fresh and creative, Instagram is constantly updating their defined set of features. One of the features bound to come is the ability to lock Instagram Reels with a secret code that users must type in to access them.

We came across this feature when Beebom highlighted it from the @design page where they had posted a locked reel. There is a key icon that resides on the right side of their profile which allows you to add hints for your followers to guess the answer to the code you want to keep secret.

This Instagram account has certain things hidden which users can unlock by entering specific codes. This interactive format for reels is a great addition aimed at increasing the love followers have for their creators. The new slide unlock feature can additionally be used for privately sharing content with friends and family.

Instagram isn't new to adding innovative features. Last year, we covered a new sticker which allows story users to hide their stories behind a paywall of sorts; followers can only view it after sending a DM. This seems like a more sophisticated version of that concept, as it is more secure and interactive.

We attempted to access the feature, but unfortunately, it was not available to us at this time. Nevertheless, it's safe to presume that the Meta-owned platform will make it available to everyone soon.
