Apple has officially released a new set of features with its latest iOS 17.3 update for eligible iPhones all around the world. The iOS 17.3 is one of the major updates and has added the highly anticipated Stolen Device Protection, updates to the lock screen, music, optimisations to crash detection and a lot more. Here’s an in-detail description of all the features.
Stolen Device Protection
Stolen Device Protection makes the iPhone and Apple ID more secure by requiring Face ID or Touch ID to execute specific tasks without the need for a passcode. Before sensitive actions like changing device passcodes or Apple ID passwords can be carried out, there is a security delay that needs Face ID or Touch ID, an hour of waiting, and then another successful biometric authentication.
Lock Screen
In honour of Black History Month, a new Unity wallpaper celebrates Black history and culture. With collaboration on playlists, you may add, rearrange, and remove music as well as invite friends to join your playlist. You can add emoji reactions to any tune in a shared playlist.
AirPlay Hotel Support, Car Crash Detection Optimisations And More
In certain hotels, AirPlay hotel support now allows you to stream media straight to your TV. Your coverage for all devices signed in with your Apple ID is displayed under AppleCare & Warranty in Settings. All iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 models have crash detection optimisations.
However, the tech giant also says that it is possible that not all Apple devices or locations support all functions.
Stolen Device Protection: How To Enable
In order to enable the Stolen Device Protection, all the users are required to move to Settings and then access the FaceID and Passcode. Then enter their device passcode and turn on the feature. However, one drawback of the feature is that if somebody knows the passcode, they can make the changes.
