Jio is marking its 10th anniversary in India with a new limited-period offer for its JioBharat feature phones. The company is offering eligible 4G handsets for Rs. 1,499, with six months of connectivity benefits included in the price.
The offer is mainly aimed at people who are still using 2G phones and have been holding off on upgrading to 4G because of the cost. Jio says the bundled benefits can make the switch more affordable, while users also get access to services beyond basic calling and texting.

There is one thing to keep in mind, though. Jio has not revealed the exact JioBharat models covered under this anniversary deal.
JioBharat Offer: What Do You Get?
The Rs. 1,499 price includes six months of complimentary recharge benefits. Each month, users get 14GB of data along with unlimited HD voice calls.
Jio says the offer is available only for a limited period and is subject to the company's applicable terms and conditions.
The company has also used the cost of a typical 2G connection to explain the effective price of the handset. According to Jio, someone spending around Rs. 199 every month on a 2G recharge would spend close to Rs. 1,200 over six months.
Since six months of connectivity are already included with the JioBharat phone, Jio calculates that the effective cost of the handset works out to Rs. 299 after accounting for those recharge benefits.
The offer is being rolled out during the festive season as part of Jio's push to encourage more 2G users to move to 4G.
More Than Just Calls and Data
JioBharat phones are positioned as feature phones, but Jio has packed them with several of its own services.
Users can access entertainment platforms including JioTV, JioHotstar and Jio's music services. JioTV offers access to more than 500 TV channels, while JioHotstar brings live cricket, movies and other content to supported devices. The phones also provide access to millions of songs.
Digital payments are another part of the package. JioBharat devices support UPI payments through JioPay and also offer payment alerts and Sound Box functionality.
For families, Jio includes features under its Jio Safety Shield offering. These include safe-calling tools and location-related features designed to help family members stay connected and keep track of each other.
Which JioBharat Phones Are Eligible?
Jio has not yet confirmed the specific models included in the anniversary offer. However, the hardware details mentioned by the company give us some indication of what could be covered.
The offer refers to JioBharat phones with a 2.4-inch display, a 2,000mAh battery and 4G connectivity. Those specifications are also associated with the JioBharat B1 and JioBharat B2.

That said, Jio has not officially confirmed that either model is part of the Rs. 1,499 anniversary offer, so customers will need to check the eligibility details before purchasing.
For now, the main attraction is the six months of bundled connectivity. For users still relying on 2G, Jio is essentially combining the handset and its initial recharges into one package, bringing the upfront cost of moving to a 4G phone down considerably.
