SAMSUNG will likely launch the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable phones at an Unpacked event this year. While the rumour mill regularly churns out details of these handsets, fresh leaks have spilt the colour options of the upcoming foldables. Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), leaked the colours of Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.
The clamshell foldable may have Green, Blue, Yellow and Platinum paint options apart from the traditional "Beige, Gray, Light Green and Light Pink." Further, Young adds the Z Fold 5 could debut in a Blue and Platinum shade beside the Light Blue, Beige and Black colours.
In India, the Z Flip 4 is available in Bora Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold and Blue colour options. Speaking of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, the phone is available in three colour trims - Graygreen, Phantom Black and Beige.
While the launch is months away, the leak has given exciting material to users who wish to have more upbeat colour options on their foldable phones.
Meanwhile, the Unpacked event could happen early this year in July instead of the traditional eighth-month showcase. Leaks in the past have teased that the clamshell foldable could debut with a folder-shaped secondary display. It will be considerably larger than the current Z Flip 4. The clamshell foldable is tipped to have a 12MP + 12MP camera setup.
Moreover, according to Android Central, the Z Fold 5 could be "thinner and lighter" because of the new gapless hinge that will see the light of the day in the new foldable. The phone could have a 120Hz screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, a triple camera setup and more.
While the South Korean giant was the leader of the foldable market in India, the upcoming phones will face the heat from the clamshell and book-style foldable phones from OPPO and Tecno. OPPO sells the Find N2 Flip in India. Phantom V Fold 5G is Tecno's offering to challenge Samsung's monopoly. And in the latest move, Motorola is gearing up to revive its foldable portfolio with the Razr Ultra series foldable smartphones soon.
