JE Technology Desk: As we brace up for the ultimate makeover of Twitter today, owner Elon Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino have been dropping hints about what is coming next. In the latest move, the new Twitter boss revealed that 'X' will be the future of "unlimited interactivity". It will focus on audio, video, messaging, payments and banking, forming a global town hall of opportunities and ideas.
Plus, Yaccarino goes on to add that X will be AI-powered. For the unversed, Musk's newly-launched initiative xAI (that aims to understand the universe) is an attempt by the Tesla CEO to foray into the AI space otherwise dominated by OpenAI, Microsoft, Google and other big tech companies. The AI firm will work with Twitter and Tesla.
X is Twitter's "second chance to make another big impression," she said. While the microblogging app transformed the online communication landscape, X will further add to this impression, the CEO added.
X: In works since last eight months
Further, in her Twitter thread, she goes on to add that the new X was already in the works for the past eight months via rapid feature releases. In a long thread, she said that X can "deliver, well...everything".
Speaking of updates on the new logo by Musk, the interim logo will go live today, and x.com now redirects to Twitter. He has already changed his profile picture (and bio) to the new alphabet, which is likely the logo Twitter users will see in the future. Musk first informed about the update on July 23 in the morning by tweeting: "And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds."
After the branding overhaul, tweets will be called "an X," and users will have "no name". To add to the rush, Musk said in a Spaces chat that blowtorches will be used to snap away existing Twitter logos from the offices. As of now, the bluebird continues to be the logo which could retire anytime soon.
