JE Technology Desk: Meta Quest is the company's VR/AR offering for consumers around the globe. In an attempt to expand its reach, the company is testing the compatibility of the headset on WhatsApp, reports WABetaInfo. The support for the Quest device is evident in the 'Linked devices' option in the instant messaging app on Android.

This functionality will likely roll out in a future version of the app. As per the report, Android Beta version '2.23.13.6' is labelled a compatible build. However, the feature is not releasing to beta testers due to its under-development character. Once the functionality is live, users will be able to access WhatsApp on their Meta Quest device in a similar way like they access their account on Windows and iPhone.

In the screengrab shared by the news outlet, the Meta Quest device is visible as connected to the messaging app. The update will allow native and seamless support for the headset for WhatsApp users. This comes as a piece of good news for the VR/AR headset users, as the upgraded functionality will further upscale user experience and communication. Owing to the under-development character, the report claims, users cannot establish a connection officially at the moment.

Speaking of other updates on the Quest headset, the company announced that parents will soon be able to create controlled accounts for Quest 2 and 3 devices for children in the age group of 10 to 12. Preteens in this age group can also configure an account after receiving approval from their parents. It will come with age-appropriate recommendations.

Guardians can manage/block app access in these accounts, enforce time limits, and cast the content on a separate screen to monitor the content their child is watching. It will be an ad-free experience. Parents can delete the data and account anytime.

Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg recently unveiled the Meta Quest 3, the latest iteration of VR headsets at a comparatively lesser price.
